Have you ever considered working on a mission trip, but weren’t quite sure how to get involved?
If so, this summer is your chance!  We’re teaming up with the Asbury UMC in Janesville to plan a
trip to the Nehemiah Mission Project, a truly life-changing mission organization in Cleveland, Ohio.
The Nehemiah Mission Project invites all youth, women's and men's groups to consider spending a
week in the great city of Cleveland, Ohio for the Glory of God. The Nehemiah Mission of Cleveland
will house you, feed you and have you work in homes and churches that need your help. Most
mission teams will be building and repairing porches & ramps, painting houses, cleaning and painting
classrooms, doing yard work, working in food pantries and soup kitchens and helping with Vacation
Bible Schools. What our team will be doing will be dependent on our skills and interests.  You can
learn more about the Nehemiah Mission at
nehemiahmission.org.

Our trip will be from August 2-August 8, 2009 and will probably cost about $150 per person for a
week’s worth of food, housing, and transportation.  All adults and youth entering 7th grade or above
are invited to participate.  We are planning a couple of fundraisers to help participants defray the
cost of the trip.  In January, we will be selling $10 and $25 “bonds” to anyone willing to invest our
mission trip.  All “bondholders” will be treated to a special meal and presentation about our trip
after we return so you can see all that we accomplished.  We are also planning to serve a special
Valentine’s Day dinner at our church to help raise money for the trip.  Watch for more details about
these fundraisers in the next couple months!

If you would like to participate or would like more information, please speak to Pastor Wendy or
Ashley Kloften.

Upcoming Meetings:
  • January 27, 6pm, New  Horizon UMC
  • February 9, 6pm, New Horizon UMC
2009 Summer Mission Trip
Adopt-a-Family
Each year we adopt at least one
family during Christmas. A tree is
decorated with ornaments that church
members can take.  On the ornament
is a desired gift of a parent or child.
Thank you to all members who
contributed to make this a merry
Christmas for these three families
each year!

Mittens for Mission
For the last several years New
Horizon United Methodist Church
members have collected mittens,
gloves, scarves, and hats to distribute
directly to families who need them
with the remaining clothes donated to
the Domestic Violence Shelters in
Beloit and Janesville.  We kicked the
mission of a bit early in 2008 with a
coat drive.
